So, I thought I had fixed the "oil-in-the-air filter" problem. When I changed my VC gasket, I replaced both top grommets as well as their hoses. I also cleaned out the little vent things that mount into the VC itself. Well, after doing my header swap yesterday, I found oil in the air filter. Im wondering if the Restore Ive been using (I know, this was stupid) has somehow clogged the line running from the rear grommet to the manifold. I also think this line is clogged because at the same time I had slight oil seepage from the oil cap. I'm guess the internal air pressure is building because it can't escape through that line. So, my question is can I use a larger diameter hose with the little fitting attatched to it to run to the manifold? Or is there a reason that the stock line goes so narrow? I'm just trying to fix this because I want to install my CAI, but I don't want oil running inside the piping.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.
the rear ccv hose on later model XJs was bigger. You can grab one of these (figure like a 2000 XJ) from a dealership. I believe you will have to swap the manifold fitting with your model's fitting.
I would not replace the rear line with anything but an OEM line - the vacuum tends to collapse soft lines, and any dips in the line cause it not to work right.
I also plan to implement the catch can idea

You can install an oil catch can!
Cool idea! I will do that as well.Originally Posted by radio flyer

I will then go ahead and swing by the dealer today and see what I can find out about that then.Originally Posted by dukie564
