Dana 44 axle drive shaft
Hey guys,
I'm gonna do an axle swap from my dana 35 to a dana 44. I have a 96 xj 4.0 manual tranny, 3.07 gears. Someone told me that my current driveshaft won't work with the dana 44 (too long). He also told me that I could get a front axle drive shaft from an auto tranny and it would fit just fine. Can any of you guys validate and/or negate this?
Thanks,
Dan

one more thing, is there anyway I can tell if there is a locker on the dana 44? the guys selling it says there is but I don't know how to tell...in fact...I'm not really even sure I know what a locker is, I just know that they are good to have. Any insight would be great.
Thanks,
Dan

If you want to see pictures of open and locking carriers there are many on line. Just Google XJ Dana 44 and look I am sure we will find the answer.
Does anyone know if a 2 door XJ and a 4 door XJ's drive shaft lengths are different?

just have someone hold one end and you turn the other end if it is open it will spin the drive shaft yoke if it is locked it will turn at the other end. or you can just pull the cover to tell
