Damn previous owner. New surprise. Am I fixing this right??
Alright, so I noticed the side trim on my '91 XJ seemed to be peeling, and because I like the trim I figured I would pull it, clean it, scuff it, and epoxy it back on. Went outside, started pulling... and low and behold another surprise left from the DAPO. Check it out...
And the way I know it was the DAPO is because he tried fixing it with double sided duct tape and some kind of tacky crap..
So, after cussing a bit, I went to work tryin to fix it. Basically I got a paint/rust stripper for my drill and started grinding the crap out. Everything seems surprisingly whole, even the edges of the holes dont push in. After grinding ALL rust, Im gonna stuff some QuickSteel in, PROPERLY, and then sand it to match. Then paint with rustoleum sandable primer. This all sound about right? Thanks guys.

Wow, by the looks of the rust you had, I think I should be grateful lol. And I think it should be ok; I can push all around and have nothing bend or push in.. only time will tell as I continue to grind until I see clean metal.

Im going threw the same stuff, not with rust tho. So far I have put 4 missing bolts in the oilpan. Full tune-up,replaced the electric fan cause it was shot,2 02 sensors. Found a weld in the transmission case. Things I still have to replace rear pinion seal,2 u-joints,valve cover gasket, negative battery cable. So I feel ya.
