Default d35 to 8.25 question

Is an 8.25 a direct swap in place of my d35?

I think the axle tube size is different (the 8.25 is larger) so your U bolts won't work. Also I think the pinion "snout" is longer (not 100% sure) you may need a different driveshaft.

Since you have a lift, the D-shaft may work, just measure the collapsed length. The 8.25/D44 yokes are about .75-1" longer than the D35's

Yep, I am running a 8.25 with the stock D35 driveshaft. I have a 6.5 inch lift and the longer D35 shaft when used with the 8.25 put the slip yoke back into the tcase in it's original position.

thanks i have a 4.5 inch lift so it pulled my driveshaft out some, so the difference in lenth of the 8.25 will probably put my driveshaft back in the t case in its normal spot
