Cup holder size (US)
Just a quick question as I know UK cup sizes are different to US. Would a cup holder which has a base diameter of 65mm (2.56 in), and at about 50mm (2 in) up a diameter of 73.5mm (2.9 in) be suitable for most take out drinks such a Mc Donalds? It is a good size for a UK large so does the job great for me. This isn't designed with normal drink bottles in mind as I know mine don't fit
The reason I ask is because I've nearly finished a 3D print design of a removable single cup holder as I really hate the above handbrake one. If it needs to be a bit bigger to be useful to anyone in the US then I'm fine to alter its size and have a 2nd version. Once I'm happy with the final design I'll create a post about it with a download link to the file. Thanks. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...d631dbbe9a.jpg |
Do you unscrew it when you want 4x4?

It lifts straight up and out. It uses slots instead of holes.

I dont have any fast food cups on hand but if I go out today I'll ask for the various sizes. Some other ideas to fit more unpredictable sizes is to make ring inserts or find a way to produce your cup holder with flexible inner flaps. I like your idea.
