The temp sensor or sending unit?If your talking about the sending unit then it's a lamp thread,not standard or metric.I know cause I had to remount it in my heater core hose and bought a jamb nut for it.The only place I could find one is at a hardware store.Mine is a 96 also.If it's on the head at the back of the motor then it's a temp sending unit.If it's the temp sensor then I don't know.

Most times, it's a standard tapered pipe thread - most often 3/8" NPT. Why for would you like to know?

Of course, that's the sensor down in the block (very early) and the one in the thermostat housing (1991-up.) If you have one 'round back of the cylinder head, it's threaded 1/8" NPT.

1/8 wouldn't fit my 96 sender.It took a lamp thread nut.

I wanted to know because i would like to purchase a performance temp. sensor that has less ohms to trick the computer into starting the fan around 200-210 deg. and of at 180-185 deg. if not then i will try a resister between the to wires to the temp. senser to trick the computer between a 4000- 5000 ohms resister should get me there. http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/CTS.html
