Cruise control not working
Coming home from work the other night w/ the cruise control on my '00 XJ began accelerating on its own. I thought it was a fluke, but over the last few commutes its been happening more and more. I can get it to stop by turning off the cruise control or tapping the brakes, but it's becoming quite an inconvenience. It seems to happen most when the cruise accelerates on an incline and doesn't seem to release at the top. Any ideas on a fix?

Is there a fresh set of eyes out there that might be able to help me out on this? I'm still having a problem w/ the cruise wanting to run away. Any help is appreciated.

Any chance you spilled some pop on it? Alcohol cleaning anda q-tip might help. I have kids, my switches get gummed up all the time.

If it happens when the cruise is opening the throttle on it's own (like when climbing a hill), doesn't release the throttle again once it hits target speed, I'd bet that either the servo is sticking or not venting correctly, or the PCM is bad.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing has been spilled on the controls that I'm aware of. I'll check into the servo and PCM a little more to see if I can't flush out the problem. Thanks again.

There is a vaccum line underneath your battery box that contols your cruise and heat controls see if it has a hole in it
