1989 cherokee...I've been chasing this problem for a while. I've looked at the plug from the control from the steering wheel and it's plugged in. Ive used a test light on the plug and it lights up when I activate the switches. The connector on the brake light works and I've tested it with a test light too. The unit under the hood I have tried to test. From the plug i have grounded it and applied power. With 2 connections I hear a clicking inside the unit. I have vacuum on one of the lines running to it also. I bought another one at a salvage yard and it didn't fix it either. Is there something I am missing?

What exactly is the issue? Does your cruise control not work?

 

Ha! That would be important information I guess. Yes the cruise control does not work. It does not activate at all. Is there a light on the dash that lights up?

 

Did you also check all of your vacuum lines?

 

The smaller vacuum line to the drum under the hood has vacuum. The larger one that appears to go under the dash does not. Is the larger line supposed to have a vacuum?
