Crossed road that was flooding. Check guages comes on and battery guage bottomed out,
dash lights went out. Then 45 secs or so later I hear a quick squeal and volts shoot back to normal guages come back on and check gauges goes off.
What happened?

Yeah that is what I figured.
I have a bad habit of blasting through flood waters. I caused an internal short in my wife's Commanders battery blasting through some deep *** puddles last year

It will eventualy degrade the unit but thats part of wheeling, some people relocate it. I buy them with warranties and return them when I think its going out....or just before the warranty expires.

Could just be that the belt got wet enough to slip. That can cause the voltage guage to drop and make the computer think that the alternator is not charging. As soon as it regains friction and starts to turn the alternator all will return to normal. I have had this happen when hitting standing water on the road that was only an inch deep just because of the amount of water that splashed up into the engine bay.
