Default Cranks, no start, no spark... please help!

So I have a 1994 4.0 XJ I just bought thta has some igntion issues and I cannot get a spark and I am almost at my wits end of testing here is what I have done.

What I have done and know
plugs, plug wires, cap and rotar are good
ignition coil is good
per the internet - I tested the crankshaft position sensor by ohming out the plug at the B and C poles and received no reading (an open circuit) that is what the internet said it was supposed to do... not sure if thats true or not or if it can go bad and still have an open reading.

Power is getting to the ignition coil but nothing is getting to the distributor which is making me question the results of testing the crank position sensor. I know the ignition coil is good because its brand new.

What I think could be the issue
the crank position sensor is bad even though it tested open circuit
grounding issue for the ignition coil
bad pickup coil

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A couple of things:

Just because its new doesn't mean the ignition coil isn't bad. Learn from my mistakes. Test it anyway.

Your 94 is OBDI, which means you can get some rudimentary codes. http://www.jeep-xj.info/HowtoECUcodes.htm
