Crank sensor repeated failure
New to the forum, I'm Joe. Hope one of you might help me out on this. I have a 1999 Cherokee, not grand, and my mechanic has replaced the crank sensor twice and they have lasted apx 100 to 200 miles and failed. Second sensor was a different mfg because he thought that possibly the sensor was defective. Code shows crank sensor each time. In the past I have had repeated units like a VW starter from the auto zones ect that were junk and had top go through 3 or more before I got one that lasted over a few weeks. I'm tempted to go to a Jeep dealer for a OEM sensor but before I do any thoughts on other causes. I searched the forums but couldn't find the same problem with repeated failures. Thanks.
Thanks, that's my thought OE is the best bet. The wiring looks to be in good shape. This is one of those things that I would do myself but with the location and with no more than my mechanic charges I let him do it.

Absolutely get yourself an OEM sensor. You are lucky that you got 100-200 miles out of those other sensors. Since most of them are bad right out of the box.
