Default crank position sensor

1998 Classic 4 L : a plastic cover came off when I removed the old sensor and now I can't figure out how it goes back on. I don't want to fight w/ those 2 bolts until I find out how it fits. Could you tell me how you did it or if you know a good illustration? Thanks

Having done this in February I was a little concerned about this myself. But my cover stayed on. My guess is that the little pieces I circled clip inside the tranny housing. The circle on the left it would just be the horizontal part that goes inside. Not the vertical.

I was surprised when I replaced mine to find that there was no cover. Just added to the suspense of taking those bolts out. No issues with it not there though.

I tried to find a shot of a tranny online to show but really couldn't. Now assuming I was looking at Jeep trannys it appears not all have that piece. Wait tried again and did this time. Think I was looking in the wrong section on the tranny. Which makes it look like I am wrong cause doesn't it appear those tabs are sitting on top.
