Default Crank but won't start. 98 XJ

Good afternoon I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice, thank you. My Xj after 2 days parked doesn't want to turn on, I used Friday night to put gas. 2 weeks ago my xj began acting weird; I would turn it on and it started normal, but few seconds to a minute after driving It would act like if it was about to die also nothing happened when pressing the gas. I had to stop accelerating then press the pedal again for the XJ to catch up and start idling correctly. Now it wont start, it cranks but doesn't catch up to start. I have read other post with similar cases of " crank but won't start' and they seem to always go for the Crankshaft sensor. Should I check started 1st? I had to come to work so I did not really try anything yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You should be getting 5 volt pulses out of the signal wire when cranking. Same thing out of the cam sensor.

If those are OK go back to step 1- Got gas? Got spark? Got compression?

Yeah, but does it come out of the injectors?

Pull the plugs and see if they're wet with gas. Then you can see if you have spark by grounding the plug, or you can get a cheap spark tester from AZ.

This will give a general direction of the problem- is it fuel or electricity.

Meanwhile check all the fuses, grounds, and relays.

And check for engine codes and battery voltage.

That's a little low but get the rest of the information. Might be low because of all the cranking. Clean every terminal on battery cables shiny brite. You might want to put a trickle charge on that while you're getting the rest of the data, and we'll keep this on the to-do list.
