Default CPS issue

I've been having an issue with my jeep randomly not starting. Every so often when I go to start it up I won't get any spark. I figured out on YouTube that for some reason, when you unplug the CPS and plug it back in after a few minutes, it will start. I did that once or twice a while ago but now it happens quite often (every ten starts or so). Does this mean that I should replace the CPS? My jeep is a 1990 limited 4x4 cherokee

If you're comfortable with a multi-meter, there are a few videos on YouTube about how to test it. Look up, "test CPS jeep 4.0" and it should point you in the right direction.

As far as that being the sole reason for your problem, well, it could be your ignition coil or the sync sensor inside the distributor as well (if not getting spark). Also, be sure to check the pressure at the fuel rail to be sure you're getting fuel and not just thinking it's a spark issue.
