1987 new toy

Maybe anyone who has done this might help me figure which would help cool the engine better. I've heard guys say they get a 10 degree drop with hood vents,any advise would help.

aftermarket aluminum radiator? Are the vents really that necessary? I've seen people put washers on the hinges to jack up the backs of the hood to give it a cowling effect.

Upgrading the rad. to a 3 core or 3 row or something raditor will help remendously from what i have heard and seen in keeping the block cooler. But the vents will help with ambient temps, cooling everything else down as well by improving air flow

as for the hood spacer i wouldnt reccomend it. Think about this way, you have a front end crash, the mounts and bolts break/rip. That hood is now comming at your head and neck. It wont crumple like it should...just a thought

I run Lebaron hood vents, noticed a constant 5 degree drop in temps, and 10-15 at times

i use vents droped temp by 5-10 degs. was super cheap and easy.

not to thread jack but is it ideal to have water dripping down into your engine? iv seen people use household heat/air return covers as cheap alternatives to "hood vents"

used houshold vents came out nice, and i bought flat door magnets to cover them when its raining heavy.with the three core radiator installed driving it sits at 160.

I have a gutter that drains off to the sides. So it wouldint ever get wet up at the firewall unless I deep six the jeep.

very good.I thoughtn of rein,snow,debris, sand,flying monkeys, rolling off the winshield would go straight in.

Both, a cowl hood on the wife's,and the lebaron vents on mine. That way we dont have to really worry about any water getting in her hood.
