Default Cost to have new front control arm brackets installed?

The passenger side front lower control arm on my 1999 XJ is severely bent. Unfortunately I cannot weld and don't really have any option but to have a shop do it. I got a quote today for $329, not including the brackets which I'll be supplying. Does that price seem reasonable? Thanks in advance.

What exactly is wrong? Just the arm is bent or brackets too?

Have any friends that can weld?? Do all the hard work, cut the mount off, get it ground down and have friend burn a new one in for you. A ton of companies make beefy LCA mounts.

Otherwise the cheaper alternative would be removing the axle, prepping it and taking it to a welding shop to have a new bracket welded on.

I would suggest going out of town to a smaller shop in a small town labor rates will be cheaper.

I had my upper pass side CA mount replaced on my 99 (they are known to be weak) and it cost me $35 they supplied it all. If you have the lowers replaced I would suggest that one also.

$329?! wow. I'd charge like $100 in labor at the shop for that. Sidework, 50 bucks and a 6-pack and I'd burn one back on.

He said brackets so I assumed more than one would need to be removed and welded. I have no welder I just know what some of our local shops have charged for similar types of repairs.

I would call all welding shops around you see how much they will charge you.

Hit up the local Jeep clubs. I'd burn a new one on for $50 if you ****** the axle out of the jeep and brought it to me. The prep work would take maybe an hour, assuming the axle is already out of the jeep. To weld a new one on would be maybe 20 minutes.

For that kind of money, you could buy another axle from a Pick n Pull yard. I bought my last one for $230. More labor on your part, but would be cheaper if you can't find a welder.

"Just the bracket."
Those (probably all) control arm bushings are deteriorated.

Always shop around on these kinda things,A lot of places can do it from welding shops to a body shop.If you catch a smaller shop that needs work today you can catch a deal.Or if you have a local off road club or jeep club ask who they trust to use.
