Cooling Questions...
I was just wondering if running without a thermostat has any negative effects on the 4.0, or if it's just a bad idea from the start?
and also i have been searching but can't seem to find any kind of write up/how to on how to bypass the electric fan and use a switch to control it so if anyone knows of any links they would be greatly appreciated
Edit: for the record i don't have any issues with cooling when i'm driving on the roads around town, its just when i run for awhile off road that it climbs up to almost 260 and i have to stop playing and watch my buddies mess around

well when i bought mine it didnt have one in it at all. but it had an overheating problem. so i replaced the water pump and put one in just to be safe. but it was the water pump that was causing it

just unplug it and find which "prong" is positive and negative and ground the negative and run the positive to a switch and the a wire to a power source....use thick wire! like 10 or 8 guage wire cause any thinner and it will melt and catch fire

just kind of curious but what temperature do you like to keep yours around? i've seen all the different posts about the temperature the 4.0 is designed to run at but it just seems awfully hot to me

you could unplug the a/c compressor and turn the defrost on. The fan will come on and you will help cool it down with the extra "radiator" heater core.
