Getting ready to do a full coolant change today. I have a 1987 (renix) with the closed pressure system.

Any helpful little tips on doing this job before I get started? I know it's a pretty straightforward thing to do but any little tips to make it go smoother are always welcomed.

I have not decided on premixed or mix it yourself yet. Depends on what is less expensive. Distilled water should not be all that expensive I wouldn't think


Heading out to go buy the stuff I need. I will check up here before I start

Just got back inside from looking at how to drain the radiator. Holy crap that stuff is going to go everywhere when it drains out lol. No drain plug just the lower rad hose and its going to run all over once it starts coming out.

Oh well. I have a 5 gallon bucket. Hopefully that will catch most of it.

Ok... Haynes says cooling capacity = about 12 qts. I let the coolant drain and started filling. A little more than half way through the first gallon and it started overflowing. I jacked the front up to make sure air bubbles had a place to escape but still no more would fit.

What the heck is going on?
