Default Control arm question

Can you trim a little out of the LCA mount, or is that not advised?

I know, I have the LCA in upside down.

Dude, I would recommend against doing any trimming to the Stock Control Arm Mounts. Those things look flimsy enough as they are. I'm guessing some 50 pound head engineer came up with the exact amount of tin foil needed to make a mount that would work good.

A little will go a long way. It won't take much to get a little more clearance!!

yes but I have them on upside down. I stand to gain 1/4" or so when I flip them over

Is that 1/4" worth trashing the mounts and arms?

I guess I don't understand. If I flip them the right way I will gain another 1/4" clearance there. How would the right way trash the arms and mounts? I think I might end up looking into drop brackets.

If you need to trim to get more clearance than your arms are at a steep angle and aren't operating properly. 1: you can turn them around and get clearance or 2: drop brackets or long arms. With the arms at that angle, you will have very little downtravel before the arm binds (hits that spot you wanna cut).

He meant is getting that additional 1/4" clearance from the arms being upsdide down worth risking the cutting and trashing of the already-weak mounts and arms hitting the bracket? You get a little clearance from the arms but the bracket still hangs low.

Sorry the way you posted I assumed you meant you were going to flip them..Definitely get some drop brackets as that angle is extreme. Also never ever flip control arms the stock ones aren't designed to be ran that way.

We just got ahead or ourselves on the install and didnt notice until later what we had done. I think I will just get drop brackets that way I can spacer and shackle up to 6" easier later on if I want. Thanks for the help

Just placed order for drop brackets. Hopefully they arrive before the weekend. Thanks again for the input.
