Default Constant Heat!

I have a 98 XJ Classic and am having issues with the heat, it never stops. While driving and the controls turned off it still blows heat. It comes from thefront vents and when I mash on the gas it blows from the defrost vents. I have checked the connector under dash behind glove box and can't see anything wrong with the connections there. Any help as to where to look for problems will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your vacuum ball is properly connected.

To me it sounds like you have 2 different problems. The first is like SeriousOffroad said A vacuum leak possibly at the vacuum ball or one of the vacuum lines. This would cause the problem of blowing from the vent then changing over to the defroster vent.
As for you always getting the heat. Is the blower motor always on? If so, To me it sounds like you switch may be bad and possibly not reaching the point of being off. Or you have a short of some kind. You may want to pull the switch and give it a good cleaning and see if that help.
Let use know what you find. If you still can't figure it out we can work from there.
Good Luck.
