Hello everyone. Long time lurker, 1st time poster. Hopefully this wont get too long winded . So, my '01 Cherokee Sport is in need of a new set of tires and shocks. I think I'm going with Bridgestone Dueler ATII Revos mounted on stock alloys, and a lift of 2" or so. I have narowed lift options down to either Rocky Road 2" budget lift (coil spacers, shackles and blocks) or Daystar 1 3/4" comfort ride kit (coil spacers and shackles). Then theres always the OME 2" kit, but it seems way out of budget. Can anyone familiar with these kits speak on the road/offroad manners? What size tire should I be looking at? This is my daily driver and it sees alot of long highway trips, but the destination is often in some adventurous type areas. Any advice or perhaps some pics of similar setups would be appreciated. Also, any recomendations on some quality shocks? Thanks

stay away from the blocks, no good. id go coil spacer and shackle. i think with 2" u can run a 30" or 31" but im not certian, ive had the 2" bb in mine for a year and it rides like a factory set up.

Another option for the rear is the long aal that is what I will be installing on mine after the holidays. My shocks are worn out too getting some new tires to mount on some cragar d -window black rims trying to decide on 30's or 31's.

Cheapest way to get 2" up front is some Grand Cherokee V8 springs. And, I would either do a bastard pack or add a leaf/shackles in the rear. With 2" 30's will clear, 31's might but might rub at full flex or tight turns

go with a teraflex bb it is good and there is no blocks

The teraflex kit looks nice, think I might go that route and a 30" tire. Will I run into any clearance issues with the stock alloys? The offset seems pretty shallow. Or maybe this would be a good excuse for buying a set of soft 8's.

Go to a junkyard and get some long leaves out of a s-10 or another cherokee and coils from a V8 ZJ. Easiest and cheapest way.

O.K., it's been quite a while (actually forgot I started this post...good thing I searched) and I still haven't done anything. But its come time to make a decision as now my tires are shot, and before I go blow a bunch of money on stock size tires, I'm back to looking at lifts. To add to the problem, now my rear springs are sagging really bad.

So back to the original question, whats a good 2" lift (only this time, with a full leaf...)? And I still need some good shocks. The OME kits include everything I'll need (I think...), but the price is still hard to swallow. Is there anything similar for less $? This is not an "offroad" jeep...just want to run a bit larger, more aggressive tire to help in the snow and muddy logging roads.

I ran a 2" spacer up front and a bastard pack out back for about a year. The jeep handled fine. I ran it on the highway, off road, and towed without any issues.

I have 30" tires on ZJ wheels and they never rub

I have the Rocky Road 2" budget lift you are considering: spacers up front with shackles and a 1/2" block in the rear. Looks good and rides the same as stock. I also installed 30" tires. I would not go with any thing larger than 30's with this lift. You'll also want to get the shock extenders if you plan on going off road. I have not installed the shock extenders yet and occasionally will feel the rear shocks top out on rebound.

Yep, hence the research...I'm not finding anyone (besides OME) offering a 2" lift that includes the leafs. I do see that quadratech has HD replacement leafs. Add in some good shocks, and a 2" lift and, well...how much is the OME kit again?

I've looked into the bastard pack route...not sure if its something I can pull off in my driveway, and even if I had the tools, not really something I trust myself doing on my only vehicle. And after all the junk yard shopping and extra wrenching/hacking, replacement springs don't seem so expensive anymore.
