So recently I flushed my radiator and refilled with new fluids. Upon removal of the upper radiator hose I attempted to flush it with a garden hose only to find all the water back up and not find its way into the engine. When this happened a lot of water fell around my battery, camshaft sensor, alternator, spark plug rail, overflow tank, oil filter, etc. Now everytime I go to start when cold the jeep "stumbles" on the first and second revolution before firing up and running absolutly normal. Idle is perfect and when the jeep is warm it starts up perfectly. Also this problem only started directly after the radiator flushing.

Will getting the camshaft sensor wet cause this to happen? Maybe some of the water found its way into the spark plugs or alternator? (Spark plugs were all replaced a month ago & radiator flush was a week ago). Im worried it will become worse and not start at all. I am very new to all things mechanical when it comes to vehicles so i really dont know where to start. I was thinking of trying to clean the camshaft sensor with throttle body cleaner, is that a no no? Thank you for the help i appreciate it!!

Bump

Does anyone have even the slightest idea as to where I can start? I spoke to a few people and they said its very possible some water leaked into spark plug.. Can someone please confirm this? Thank-you!

hello, maybe a good drying out will help..around all the spark plugs, and the other things that got wet...thats as far as my thinking takes me,because if the engine was ok before the water spill..then surely theres still some water causing the problem...good luck.

your welcome my friend, and i do wish you success, there could even be water sitting in the spark plug wells..causing a short..(spark jumping to ground through the plug body instead of at the plug tip)..just a thought my friend..but i feel with careful drying and looking for dampness or wetness you will come good...;-)

Generally you don't want to use throttle body cleaner on electrical components.

See if you can get a spray can of CRC QD Electronic Cleaner from an auto parts store. Unplug the electrical connectors and spray them down with the electronic cleaner.

Blowing everything down with compressed air is a good start but not many people have access to compressed air.

Thank-you for the advice Ken, i'll start with compressed air, my gf's father has access to that. If the air/sun work to no avail, I will attempt to clean electrics via your recommendation. I will keep everyone posted!

Thanks, saves me from asking what brand is recomended. Tho I haven't "yet" needed to clean plugs, etc. best to know what to get.

Living better with petro-chems, gotta know what to use where.
