Cold Air Intakes

What are the best Cold Air Intakes? Is there really any difference between K&N, Airaid, ect.....except price?

The most expensive cold air-intakes still only promise 3-5hp, so you're kind of splitting hairs.

That money would be well spent in other areas. None of them are worth what you pay for them. They're more show and sound than anything. If you want a little more performance for that kind of money buy a tuner that will allow you to tune for 93 octane. That would be the biggest bang for the buck and still not worth it IMHO.

EBAY. Get the $35 cheapo w/ a k&n. In fact, the k&n has a plastic tube vs the cheapo w/ a mandrel bent aluminum. the brand name kits include a "cold air isolator" which, IMO you can make your own for a lot less....and better too. Look at my jeep build under project x-jay. I have stuff done that might help you. Did my intake+ram air for under $50!:gunsmilie:

Well I drove into the nearby town taking the main road away from my area. We just got tons of rain and on the way back the road was flooded over w/ 2 ft. of flowing water. First a stock Grand went through ahead of me and looked ok. I them proceeded and the water was up to my front bumper. Using the fording method and rolling forward, I created a bow wave and was all good! No intake issues or anything. I was probably going 8 mph. I'm happy!:gunsmilie:

In retrospect I wish I would have.

Heres your "cold air isolator" or splash guard or heat shield or whatever you want to call it. I just reused the old airbox.
