Coil pack
I have a 2000 Cherokee its bin running ruff and check engine light keeps coming on. The code says misfire in cylinders. I changed my plugs but that didnt help. So Im thinking coil pack but I dont want to drop $200 on that and it not be the problem. Is there anyway to test it? Someone said change wires. Is there wires when you have a coil pack. My old jeep had a cap and rotor I dont know anything about coil packs.

my 93 has cap and rotor and coil pack. they all have some sort of coil. a new coil for my 93 is only 40 bucks. why is yours 200? and to test it grab the end of it and have someone bump the key see if it shocks you.

I would check injector plug and pull coil pack off see if any burnt place on the miss fire cyl. pull compression on cyl. injector could be not working or parcel stopped up and not working, vacuum leak at the cyl will cause misfire.

Those coil packs very rarely go bad, all the ones ive seen do have a "wire" though its that little spring that sits on top of the plug.
