Default Clutch and T/O bearing Questions.

So i just called my local Napa and explained to them what my cherokee was doing. They told me that i had a bad T/O bearing, cause every time i step off the clutch i get a squeaking noise. This only happens when I'm accelerating from stop to about 15mph, then shift and it continues to squeak till till 25 and so on. Also when i let off the gas and use the engine to slow down i get a horrible squeaking. So the T/O bearing seem to make sense. so my questions are:

How hard would it be for me to do this my self? (plenty of tools and two floor jacks)
could a bad T/O bearing cause a bad vibration while in motion?
Besides the all that comes in the clutch kit, should i replace anything else?

I have a lot of mechanical experience, ive done engine and trans swaps on VWs. If my cherokee was a vr6 i would have already fixed it, but this is my first jeep/non euro vehicle. so i just want to get an idea of what im getting into.

Jeep in question is a: 1990 cherokee, 4.0 4x4
Thanks in advanced

if it was a bad throw out bearing you would be able to have the clutch to the floor and it will still be catching a little bit causing the jeep to continue rolling (and it is scary as when it happens!)

take it to a real tranny shop and have them inspect it (maaco does it for free).

otherwise the bearing is not hard to do. you need help dropping the tranny tho. its heavy

Well the jeep isn't creeping yet, but the squeaking has turned into a screeching noise after it has been siting all day. i know this cause i drove to the store and back. The clutch pedal does seem to stick a little bit, and the trans is quite hard to shift. There is also a bad vibration that seems to be coming from the trans or transfer case.

could it be the transfer case bearings?
the front axle sometimes clicks twice when i switch it to and from 4hi, and i have to wrestle the leaver most of the time.

I did this repair a few months ago. Just unbolt the tranny and slide it 6 inches or so back letting it rest on a jack in back and blocks under bell housing. that will give you access to the throw out bearing. If it hasnt blown up(bearing) and killed the fingers in comes in contact with in the pressure plate, that should be all to it. But it is a great time to replace the whole clutch. Clutch kits usually come with a new throw out.

I planed on doing the clutch if my T/O was bad, i even have the kit already. I'm just not sure if it is the T/O or not any more. I had my friend take it to aatco transmissions, but it ran out of gas on the way there. now i have to wait till Friday to get it checked. I drove it home (about 6 miles) and the squeaking/screeching has lessened and is more intermittent, but the vibration has gotten worse. Any ideas?

Get a set of female torx before you start. There's one stupid bolt on the very top of the bell housing that is different. The first time I did the job I found out the hard way. Spent two hours in a taxi late in the afternoon on a Saturday looking for the tool...
