clutch problem solved
so i had posted about my clutch problem and had a lot of help from the people that replied. i removed my clutch slave cylinder and found that the clutch fork has absolutly no pressure and can be moved around with little effort. so i will now be replacing the clutch and any other bad parts. i have replaced 2 clutches before but they were in a civic... i have an air compressor, tools, but unfortunately i will be doing this in my yard by myself. so im curious of how long you guys think it will take as i will have to take some time off from work to do this. thanks for all the help and sorry for the long post

book time in my shop is 5 hours, so if you take your time and follow the manual you should have it done in a day. Go for it , it's fun, great that you can do it at work instead of the driveway.

when you remove the slave cyl the fork will have play the rod is what keeps pressure on it if i understand what you mean unless youve done clutchs before 2 people a must easiest way is to get tyrans and transfer centered and balanced as best you can with truck high enough and ratchet strap it to jack you dont need to take out from under xj just slide back far enough to replace parts its a lot of work make sure you need to remove it

im 49 ive put in plenty off clutches from tractor trailers to motorcycles if you can get the flywheel resurfaced in the same day as not to tie up the vechicle for dats waiting for it it would be advisable but iff you had no chatter and fly wheel has no hot spots or hair line cracks ive had no chatter after putting in new clutches but its not a given you wont

Sounds like you lost the retaining spring for the fork. Might want to order one and have it with the rest of the new parts.
If your doing this alone it wont be a one day job unless you have a lift/air and a transjack.
Do yourself a favor and remove the transfercase, then you can handle the trans. I'v done this myself in my younger days..
