Default clutch pedal 89 renix ax-15

Well, after having loads of fun replacing shocks while breaking bolts, to replacing the radiator and burping the system, changing the diff fluid and snapping more bolts, and various other fun stuff that come with these amazing vehicles. I took the jeep on a long *150 miles* trip this weekend. Once I was outside of Kansas City I never had to shift out of 5th gear. Once I got into Columbia I went to push in the clutch to put the tranny into Neutral. The pedal was pretty hard to push. After the initial press, the pedal went back to normal in the amount of pressure that I takes, but would vibrate. I drove around Columbia, and after a couple of uses the pedal went back to normal. I just got back into KC today and the exact same thing happened again. I've never heard of this before.

Up until early 89s. I got lucky and found a late build 89 with an AX-15.

I don't think blessed is the right word to use lol. Dana 35c *The case says 35c but I didn't think they used the Cs in 89 so maybe it was put in after the fact?

I guess thats the trade. I've got the D44.

Swapping rears is still easier than swapping trans.

This clutch issue, i have no idea where to start. I don't even know how old the clutch is. At 149000 miles, do you think it's possible that I'm still riding on the original clutch?

Sounds like what my clutch was doing the night before it went out. Same symptoms, same trans, and you bet your *** I had the original clutch at 165000. The next day the clutch stripped all of its teeth and I limped out to a buddie's house.

I hope not lol. I knew the input shaft bearing is bad. Chatters a bit when your not pushing the pedal. I've never replaced a clutch before. I've done timing belts, radiators, intake gaskets. So on and so forth. If I was to take into a shop and have it done right. About what should i expect to pay? If the input shaft took damage due to the bad bearing, about what should I pay? Thank you all again :-)

Lol mine makes a little rattling noise when stopped and in neutral with the clutch pedal up. My clutch job was quoted at $600-$750. Depends on where you go. Way cheaper to do it yourself, but it's a PITA if you can't get the right equipment.

Yeah, I do not have the tools to do the job. Looks like its time to bust out my wallet. I wonder if they accept hopes and dreams for payment! :-P

No need to rule out clutch master and slave cylinders yet. You can check out the master pretty easily, especially if it's outside the bellhousing. Have a big bottle of dot3 fluid ready to rock, though. Might be low on fluid. Did you check the clutch fouid? Is it dirty, low, or otherwise questionable? Dirty/contaminated brake/clutch fluid can cause problems, but remember that the blackish discoloration is normal with age.
