Clunking from Trans Tunnel
So I bit of background, 01, 235k recently replaced trans about a year ago. Anyway I have a loud clunking coming from seems to be the transmission tunnel upon accelerating, deceleration or when rpms are anywhere near 1800-2300. It has gotten worse as the weather has gotten colder. Crawling under it tomorrow to tighten whatever may be loose up but wondering what may be some certain spots to check? Thanks

Check ALL the motor mounts. I just had the right side front mount shear off my 4.0. My Trans mount is completely torn up too.
Spent all weekend with drill bits, easy outs and taps. Ugh. |
I'm hoping it' not the mounts but would make sense. I put quite a bit of stress on the motor mounts doing the trans swap, but that was a year ago. There probably due replacements anyways

check all the nuts and bolts at the transmission aswell

Rotted rubber mount allowing the exhaust to hit the crossmember.

Defiantly all places I plan on checking. I can definitely feel it with my feet on the floorboard
