Default Clunking noise

I have a clunking noise coming from the engine bay. You can only here it while idling or sitting still. Do alternators do this? And the jeep starts and drives fine.

Need more info.

Clunk or click or clack?

Where in the engine bay is it located?

Are you sure it's not coming from the are of the flexplate?

It's a clunk every few seconds. It sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the engine. Flexplate?

Clunks are usually suspension related in my experience.

Does it make this noise at idle in park? If so crawl around underneath and try to determine where the noise is coming from.

Your alternator shouldn't make that noise however your AC compressor clutch could be clunking as it engages/disengages

There is still so little info to go by.. Have you listened from engine bay to see if you can try to pinpoint where the noise is, or to give a better description? Nothing should be "clunking" sometimes evap systems will make a clicking noise, its faint, but discernible and is kinda odd to hear, bunks also completely normal. If it was the flex plate you'd hear it as you revved the engine- it makes it sound more like a diesel..

I checked the all 4 bolts on the flex plate are tight.
