I know...old thread but whatever...I just had the same problem...it was my coil spring retainer clips...the screws had stripped, as you turned it relieved pressure on one side and caused the spring to wiggle, gave me a distinct clunking noise...wierd though it happened mostly in the rain...or right after raining...just another thought if anyone searches this thread later on down the road and it isn't the previously mentioned fixes.

Hey, you may have actually just helped me. How random. I've been chasing a bit of noise in my front end and my retainer screw on one side was stripped so I didn't bother with it. Maybe that's my clunk... Didn't think about it till u said something.
