CLICKING FRONT HUBS Please could someone throw a light on my problem, I have a Grand Cherokee, with auto box, when i shift from low range to high range i get a clicking noise from the front hub when cornering, a friend told me that after using low range shift to high and reverse a short distance, it will reset the box, i did it and it worked, surely this cannot be correct, is this what i have to do every time or is there a problem some where in the drive chain?

probably a bad cv or u-joint in the front axle shaft.

Sounds like a ujoint to me.

No its not the ujoint or cv recently replaced them, if it was that why would it disappear every time the car is reversed

If the ujoint was installed wrong thats the problem sometimes you will dislodge a pin bearing and will not know it, You should check your tire splash guards too if you lost a fastener on that a 1/4 inch is all you need to rub a tire, and the noise is really a laud grind. I had that problem and couldn't believe thats all it was a little tire rub makes a lot of noise.

x3. Sounded like u-joint. Couldn't help to have them inspected and it's usually free. I usually take to at least two places if you don't do it yourself and it's still usually free. ~good luck
