Cherokee turns over slowly, but won't start?!
I just bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport last week. It's been starting and running just fine. The last time I had it running was like two nights ago. I went to start it today and it just rolls over really slow and won't start. I used my other Jeep to try and jump start it and just got the same result. I disconnected the battery to see if maybe I could reset the electrical system. That also didn't work, but when I put the positive cable back on, every time I touched the terminal with it, the power locks would engage on all the doors. Is that normal? I've never seen anything like that. Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance.
Check the battery voltage and cable connections. And the starter. If the starter is covered in oil and dirt, clean it off with electrical cleaner and try again. The brushes get gummed up when they get dirty. Slow starts, no start, or a dead starter are possible.
