Cherokee throwing 12 code

Hey guys my 86 cherokee is throwing code 12..."no refereence pulses to the ECM", does anyone know what this is??? or how to fix it? I have checked all cables and everything is plugged in...it runs like ****

i thought 12 was the battery was disconnected in the last 50 key ons

I would look at the distributor too...
