Default Cherokee stereo

I am attempting to replace my stock stereo because the volume control is broken. one day no matter what direction you turned the volume **** it would increase the volume, the volume control eventually quit. I have found the oem radio, but i have also found an aftermarket stereo that costs the same. i have no subs or any other aftermarket audio equipment. the aux port on the aftermarket stereo is really the only reason that i want it. does anybody have any realistic suggestions of options? or will the stereo in the link below fit my Jeep? Take a look at Crutchfield, you can get great deals on aftermarket stereo equipment. I got a Kenwood headunit and 4 Kenwood replacement speakers, harness, kit, etc. for under $200.

I would get an aftermarket unit. The one you posted will fit. You will need to get an adapter harness so you don't cut the stock wiring.

I really don't understand your question. What I get is that you would prefer the aftermarket because of the aux port.
Are you asking how to install an aftermarket vs oem? If so then all you would need is a adapter to fit the new smaller radio into the lerger dash opening. These can be bought most anywhere car audio is sold. with the adapters and plugs available out there today it's real easy to install an aftermarket receiver. I would suggest www.cruthfield.com before you buy anything. Their customer service is surperb and they can supply any and everything you need including step by step instructions. They will also guarantee it will fit your application. The prices are reasonable as well. Hope I answered your question

same unit, same price with free shipping and installation inst. They also offer an open box for $62 if you want to save a few pennies.

it willwork- you are going to need a dash kit and wiring harness. Both can be purchased through crutchfield.com or other places cheaper online.

It should fit fine. And if it's the same price then go for it I say. Just get a wire harness adapter for it so you don't have to hack stuff up

Take a look at this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDA5...tml?search=535

I just put this into my 2000 XJ. It has CD/MP3, USB, iPod controller, front and rear AUX inputs, all for under $100 delivered.

You can also pick up the wiring harness and bezel for like another $11 from Crutchfield.

Install is really simple, and should take half an hour or less.

Well i would usually go for it, and throw in some subs and all those goodies, but it is not my personal Jeep but my families. so i would only be able to use it for a few more months.

And, How do i know which wiring harness and bezel to get?

Well, if u buy it from Crutchfield, they'll give you the right one. Otherwise, search is your friend...

OP: does any sound come out of your front speakers? Pinched speaker wires in the front door boots is a very common problem in 1997+ XJs. I am wondering if that is the cause of your problem and not your head unit. Head units do not fail all that often. Do a search on "speaker" and you will find what I am referring to.

Front passenger speaker is out as well. I have been using the balance **** to control volume right now. after i regain volume control i will fix the speaker. right now having the speaker non-functioning is helping me.
