cherokee running like 3 grand on the high way

well i no in the morning it wont shift out of first got to get up too 3000 grand then let off the gas and it shifts it on the interstate just a sec ago it shifted in to fourth at 4500...idk whats goin on i got a tranny out of a 1990 cherokee my parts car will it work people told me that the splines are not the same and said it wont work

90 I believe has the right.amount of spines. Hats right about when they changed over. Did you check our fluid level?

..... could be the electronics that lock up.the converter. After that I'm thinkin you're out of luck.

You're turnin' way too many revs. Mine is more like 2250 at 70mph.

Pull the fuse from the trans control harness, or unplug th trans controller and try shifting manually. 1-2 should get you 1st only unless you force it to pressure shift at 4500. 3 should get you 3 and D should get you 4th.

If it shifts OK manually, its electronic, so no need to replace the trans.

BTW, do you have the comfort/power switch? Set it for power.
