I could not find exactly what I am looking for from the search bar so here I am. I suppose I could ask this in either of two forums so I'll pick this one since I own a 98 xj.
I've been looking for another xj that if mostly parts compatible in case one stops running. I see mostly grand cherokees for sale recently. I've seen only a few mentions about specific parts that are not interchangable.
Is this true for most of the parts compatibility between these two?

The Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are really two different vehicles.
The XJ and ZJ use the same steering components for the most part,
4.0 engine blocks are compatible, and front seats swap over, but there
are not a whole lot of other things that swap directly without modification.
The WJ has very few parts that can be used with the XJ (front seats,
brake master cylinder, booster come to mind).
In this thread you'll find many of the GC parts that the XJ can use. But
really, if you want a parts Jeep of your own, keep looking for an XJ,
preferably a 97-99.
