cherokee engine sputtering
 
Hi I recently got a engine sputtering problem, It sputters when idleing,also while driving. It sputters for a second then it runs fine again, but after about 10-20 secs it sputters again and it continues to do so intill im done driving. Anyone have any ides on what i can do :sweatdrop:

I recommend checking fuel pressure at the test port on the fuel injection rail. At idle 96 and older 4.0 should be 31+-1psi and 97 and newer should be 49+-5psi. If your Jeep is even 1psi lower than spec. your Fuel pump is going bad. If the fuel pressure is good I would read out your (CPS) Crank Position Sensor. If that checks good I start checking ignition componants I.E. clean and regap or change your sparkplugs, clean or replace the distributor cap and rotor. Read out and if need be replace sparkplug wires.

Thanx for your info,I replaced the plugs,wires,rotor and cap. Also did a fuel pressure test everything was good.I havent check my CPS yet. Do you know what the spec is for that:donatello:
