Checking the vacuum
I have a Mity Vac for bleeding brakes. Can I use it to check the vacuum system and if so, where and how do I hook it in? Thanks!

You can use that vacuum pump.
Below are a few pics for the hook up. You will be pulling the vacuum tube rubber elbow, with the check valve, off the intake manifold and hooking your pump to the disconnected elbow. Can you check the Evap one too? And what kind of numbers are you looking for on both?

I'd have to look in to the Evap system, but I have my doubts it would be do-able. Concerning the HVAC/Cruise Control vacuum system, pump the system down to around 20 in/Hg. It should hold. The HVAC system minimum for operation is 8 in/Hg. You can operate the various mode selections for a few cycles before the vacuum dies - just pump it down again and repeat the selections. |
