In autoshop today I put a brand new Duralast serpentine belt on my XJ. I drove to the hardware store, then went home and noticed that my check engine light was on. I looked under the hood and didn't see anything wrong or out of place. What do you think is the probable cause of this issue?
uhhh... why dont you find out what code its throwing?
Do it all the time with my girlfriends 96.
turn key to off (not LOCK, I mean off). Go like this: on, off, on, off, on, off, on, and watch your CEL. It will start blinking. You will have a series of blinks with a short pause, and then another series of blinks. (this is your code) A long pause (end of your code) and then more blinks (next code, if there is one). 55 is "end of codes"
Not my video, only works for 91-96, and you dont have to set teh ebrake.

did you unplug the battery when you did this?
