check engine light

I bought another jeep the other day (98 xj) and it had a check engine light so i pulled the codes and had a trans control circuit voltage low code. i was wondering if anybody else has had the same code and what they did to fix it.
any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

1. Best to post the actual code number along with the description

2. Search all XJ forums for that code. This one, Jeep Forum, Jeeps Unlimited, NAXJA

3. Search the web for that code + Jeep Cherokee

When I was looking for a new XJ in October I ran across a 97 that had a CE light come on during a test drive. The salesman pretended like he was shocked, so before we got back to the sales lot I pulled in at an Autozone and made the salesman go in and get a scanner and it gave us that same exact description but I forget the code #. It turned out to be the Neutral Safety Switch when I looked into it further. Didn't buy that one so never got into replacing it, but that's what it sounds like to me. Could be something else similar though so like TJWalker said, get the code number and that will give you something more certain!

Most likely the Neutral Safety Switch. Do the reverse lights come on? It's really easy to take apart and clean.
