Chant shift into 4low
Full time and part time work flawlessly, but whenever I try to shift into 4 low there's grinding like I'm trying to lock into a spinning gear so I back off. WTF?
Could someone explain the proper way to shift in low so I can make sure I'm doing it right.

i have the problem to.. but the way it should be done safely is to press the brake firmly.. put the normal gear into neutral. switch to 4low slowly.. if it has trouble getting in wiggle it.. the let me know how it goes for u. that information applies to manual also.

Yeah... make sure you come to a stop first. And never take it over 25mph when you're in 4 low. You might want to get a factory service manual.

Trying to find a manual. Full time you can shift in and out of up to 25, correct? How about part time. Just making sure I'm doing **** right. I started a thread a wile back on whet to use where. This in more a question of proper shift technique.
I know the speed limit s on lo, high is any safe speed, how about part time?

I know you can go into 4 wheel drive up to 45 mph, or at least that's the fastest I've ever been going to shift. I seem to remember the manual saying it could be done at up to 55mph though. The main idea when going to 4-low is to let everything disengage. So stop, shift to neutral with the RPM at idle, and shift smoothly into 4-lo, then back into gear and go. 4-hi can be engaged without stopping or going into neutral, just don't do it going 65 on the highway (you shouldn't use 4wd on dry pavement). As for part time, I've never dealt with it. Sorry I can't help you there.

You don't want to do that It's ALOT! of stress on all of the internals. and you have to put it in neutral and stopped for low because i beleive it's lower then first gear. 4 lows mostly just when you get in some real deep ****. or Rockcrawling.
