Changeing water pump quick question...
 

Hey I'm doing a water pump on my '89 XJ..

Do I need gasket sealant with the gasket?

I ask cause some require it some don't..

no sealer, clean surface and torque spec, done. sealer isn't used from the factory and doesn't belong there now.

i used to use it on that stuff when i started as a mechanic. it sucks, doesn't help it seal, and makes it harder to change next time to clean that crap out of the crevices.

Thanks that's what I was thinking just wanted to be sure...

when you swap that tube over that a hose connects to, i put a little silicone on those threads. most pumps don't come with this tube attached, and you have to swap it to the new pump.
