changed water pump, now died

Hey yall,
First post on CherokeeForum. I'm usually trolling on WranglerForum, since I have a YJ. Today I have a question about my wife's 97 XJ (4.0L inline 6).

It was overheating and leaking from the water pump. I changed out the pump and thermostat, then put it all back together. It went just down the road and completely died.

Any ideas? Did the timing jump as I did this fix?

Thanks in advance!

The timing couldn't have jumped by changing the water-pump and t-stat. Did you overheat it?
And Welcome to CF!
Dan

hey Dan,
Yes it overheated before I replaced the pump and thermostat. It was running fine except for the overheating.
