i was trying to be as easy as possible but trying to get something off that has been on there for around 10 yrs is kind of hard to get off. As the sensor broke loose and my hand cam flying down i broke this but i think i just finished it of it had mud all inside it. What is this so i can try to fix this now. it comes off the block i believe.

Nope thats not it just got back from advance auto parts and that was not the peace. Its on the driver side on the block. Coming from the wires it has 3 plugs. 1 goes to the o 2 sensor some other plug goes into something and another plug into the sensor that I broke.

It's a little hard to tell from that particular picture.
Take it about 60 miles, see if it flags an engine light. |
Do you think it would be possible to get a better picture? It's kind of hard to tell what it is what. Also what year and engine size so you have. The more info you give the better the answers will be.

this is the best i can come up with for a pic with my phone and there is white duck tape holding it together. 90 XJ laredo inline 6 auto 4x4. Its just behind the driver side engine mount. Its in between that gap above the oil pan. As far as i know it has no engine light with 330,000 mi on it i have never seen one turn on

Knock Sensor
It informs the PCM of any abnormal combustion going on and the PCM will use that data to retard timing to bring the abnormal combustion under control.
Short term operation without it should be ok. |
It informs the ECU of any pinging in the engine so it can retard the ignition timing as needed.

And yes you are correct. You do not have a CEL. Renix engines cannot store codes.
