cd deck power.

When I installed my deck there were 2 fuses on the power wires coming out of the dash. There was a 10 amp fuse on the yellow power, a 3 amp fuse on the red power and also some kind of electromagnet connected on the yellow wire, after the 10 amp fuse. My cd player worked a while fine but one day I had the accessorie switched on in the ignotion with the radio playing. It had been on maybe 15 minutes. I then started my Jeep and the radio went off, as in nothing. I have checked the fuse in the drivers side panel under the dash, the 2 fuses I mentioned that are connected to the red and yellow wires and also the fuse in my cd deck. All of them are fine. My question is do I need those fuses on the yellow and red wires and do I even need an electromagnet on the yellow wire? I have the feeling the deck is shot, (hopefully no), but I can get a new one sometime. I just really want to know if I need those fuses on the wires and the electromagnet so I don't run int this problem again. I had this deck in my old Toyota and there werent any fuses/electromagnets on any of the power wires in it.

Im not an expert but If it is properly fused at the panel then I dont think you would need additional fuses after that.. I dont know what the "electromagnet" would be for, maybe a line conditioner to get rid of interference? Whatever its for, it looks like it was spliced in, so its pry not stock... I think you can get rid of the fuses IF IT IS PROPERLY FUSED AT THE PANEL and have no problem. Since the "electromagnet" seems to be aftermarket, you can pry take that off too with no problems. So, go get yourself a new deck, get rid of that extra clutter inline with it and you should be good..
Hope that helps,
Dylan

The magnet is a noise filter, whoever had the last deck in it didn't run through the fuse box and got alternator whine is my guess. That's the only reason I can see fuses after the fuse box too. Start over, find the stock wires and wire it in that way, take the others out.

if the stock plugs are still in your jeep they make lots of adapters so u dont need to cut the factory wires they are great. as for the fuses lots of aftermarket radios have inline fuses they wont hurt any thing just extra protection for your radio. The big black box i too would say it is a filter as it has no power to it it is a passive filter if the radio if connected correctly it is not needed
