I got mine from here... http://www.walcottcb.com/firestik-mk...kit-p-576.html

Mounted it above the rear tail lights. Sorry, no pics up yet. Just had to notch the mounting bracket though so it fit the curve of the after market tail lights I have.

Works great for me and my application.

I work at a place that manufactures CB antennas and Military Antennas, and I was talking to one of our engineers the other day about putting one on my XJ. He said that the roof of the Jeep is the best place to put one because of something called the Ground Plane. Apparently it will severely limit signal by putting one in a lower location...IE: Stock AM/FM antenna location or on the bumper. I have a roof rack and he said that with a proper tune with an SWR Meter, I could get up to 10 Miles. I plan on using a Semi-truck style wrapped Whip, as opposed to a radio shack wire whip.

Just food for thought...

Anybody have any firsthand experiance with range vs. antenna mounting location?

Im stuck between mounting my 4ft Firestik on the center of the roof rack or off the taillight on a spring. Im not looking to get 10 mile reception just decent reception on the trails and a few miles ont he road.

Firestick II, truck stop mount.

Self tappers into the fiberglass holding the mount on. Its not grounded and not tuned. Worked great last weekend. I was getting around 1.5 miles with it on the trail.

I didnt mount it on the side because it would be ripped off on the first trail I run.

Ok here's better fresh pic I just took for you it's a bracket welded and the antenna is screwed in a hole I drilled. It use to be a magnetic mount. Till I got rid of the magnet part.
