Catalytic Converter Needs Replacing
I have a little bit of a prediciment. My old cat is dead and I bought a new Magnaflow Cat that was supposed to be a direct drop in replacement, but it doesn't have the O2 sensor built into the Cat like my '97's does. If I put the new one on without an O2 sensor my Check Engine light will always be on. This wouldn't be a big deal if my XJ was just my trail rig, but since it's my DD i want know if there is actually something wrong with my engine. Does anyone know where I could find the cheapest replacement that's the same as my stock one with the O2 sensor.
Any help is greatly appriciated.

You should be able to get an exact OEM-style replacement at any parts store. I replaced mine about a year ago with a replacement from Advance Auto Parts.
Aside from not knowing what's going in with your engine should the check engine light be on constantly, you'll also effect your gas mileage. OBD-II equipped vehicles typically run a richer mix of fuel while the computer's "throwing codes" to avoid running too lean and harming the engine. My 02 sensor threw a code a few weeks ago, and in the three days I drove before I deleted the codes from the computer, I got around 15 mpg as opposed to my usual 22.

If you take your jeep to an exhaust shop, they can make it fit. Welding a bung in for the O2 sensor and welding the cat to your pipe. Something you should consider anyways to prevent exhaust leaks.
