Catalytic Converter...About to rip my hair out!
I am going to buy a new catalytic converter and muffler for my 1996 XJ (OBDII) but I cannot figure out the damn inlet and outlet size. Based on my research the follow companies say this is the size for the Cat and muffler:
Cat:
Rock Auto --- 2.25
Autozone ----2.5
summit racing----2.5
autowarehouse----2.5
4 wheel parts-----2.5
Mufflers:
rock auto----2.25
autozone-----2.25
summit racing----2.25
autowarehouse----2.5
I don't want to order the wrong sizes. If I had to guess I would say that the Cat is a 2.5 and the muffler is a 2.25 since that is what most of the websites said. Can anyone confirm what I actually need?
Thanks
Shayn

Before you spend any money on a new converter, check with the dealer and see if your 96 still has a recall in effect for the catalytic converter. My buddy got his converter replaced for free due to a recall on his 96XJ.
