Post Is Castrol High Mileage a good oil for my 4.0

98 cherokee, 4.0 130,000 miles.

Ive been using Castrol High Mileage (Half reg/Half Synth) oil (10W30).

Nothing bad or good happening, just same old jeep behavior.

I was just wondering if this is a good oil for this engine. I know some people complain that the synthetic part of it disagrees with the jeep. and then some people say that its better for it.

Its Only been in there for 2 oil changes, and before im due again, i would like to know if i should continue use? If not, is it safe to switch back to regular oil even though its been running on a part synthetic oil.

Any ideas?

It's fine to use. I don't use it but there's nothing wrong with it. I just prefer Rotella T

That high mileage stuff is ok and in some case will slow or stop small oil leak ie rear main etc. it has additives that will soften some seals. I use rotella in my jeep and my 47 coupe that has a flathead in it...i think it is the bang for the buck

Sure. Just use a good filter on it. NAPA Gold (made by WIX), Mopar, and Purolator are all reliable and well priced.

Lots of us run full synthetics. Lots run dino juice. The 4.0 likes oil.

Castrol GTX High Mileage and Valvoline MaxLife 10w-30 are my Fvaorite High Mileage oils for the Jeep 4.0, I have seen rear main leaks slow almost to no leak at all with both oils. Plus they have the Higher levels of anti wear additives our 4.0s like.

I wont use Castrol GTX High Mileage in Red vehicles, the Valvoline MaxLife is reserved for them.

The GTX HM is good for green vehicles. That's why I've used it.
