Default Cargo Light Push Button Fix?

What all have some of you done to fix the issue of the push button switch burning out on the rear cargo light. My switch was solid black at the connectors when i pulled it off. Now i know the light only gets power when a door opens so what if i just bridge the two pins where the switch was located and placed it in the on position all the time. I placed a wire connector(blade style) over the pins and tested it and works. I'm just not sure if just sliding a connector like this over the pins would be a fire hazard, the blade connector does fit snug.

Common problem, cargo light switches going bad. What I did was to buy a small single pull, single throw rocker switch at Radio Shack and use it. I might have done a bit of trimming on the plastic fixture, but it fixed the problem permanently, and cheaply. Looked nearly like it belonged there from the start, also.

Yeah knew it was common just never see anyone trying to just bridge the connector pins as if the switch was in the on position. Think ill try it this afternoon and will try and snap a few pics.
